Sebum good or bad ?
Sebum is our natural oil for skin and hair
Sebum is generated by the sebaceous glands in our scalp skin. Sebaceous glands are connected to hair follicles and they produce a lipid- rich secretion known as sebum. Its our natural oil to moisturize and protect the skin, and more importantly to promote healthy hair production.
Unless you have special skin
condition, it is generally beneficial to preserve this natural sebum. However, excess sebum may mix with dead skin cells and dirt to form plug clogging your hair follicle. This means it is more susceptible to certain skin disorders. Good scalp hygiene is crucial to prevent these issues and ensure healthy hair growth.
